Tanner Albert Weed

November 15, 1995 - March 5, 2026

With great sadness, we announce the passing of Tanner Weed on March 5th, 2026.

Tanner was born on November 15th, 1995, in Regina SK to his parents Lorne and Joanne Weed. He was the eldest of three children. From a young age, Tanner was known for his unique sense of humour and creativity, always quick with a joke.

He attended school in Regina until Grade 3, before moving to Balgonie in the summer of 2004, where he completed his elementary and high school education at Balgonie Elementary School and Greenall High School. Following high school graduation, Tanner settled into his apartment in Regina, and worked at Vaping the Way for many years. He was respected and valued by his boss and colleagues as a reliable, punctual and loyal employee.

Outside of work, Tanner had a strong passion for history, politics, and science fiction. Music was always a significant part of his life, whether that be listening to and sharing songs with friends, or singing on stage with a band before a live audience. He enjoyed a wide range of genres, although heavy metal was always his favourite. Alongside music, Tanner loved playing Dungeons & Dragons, online gaming and all things Star Wars. He especially loved military history, often collecting artifacts and memorabilia. Tanner was an exceptional writer and poet, described by friends and family as a true “wordsmith”. His ability to put thoughts and feelings onto paper was a gift that will be forever cherished.

Tanner deeply valued time spent with his family and close friends, especially sharing stories around a fire or spending days together at the lake. Those who knew him will remember his contagious laugh, entertaining impressions, and unfiltered comments. Despite the challenges he faced, Tanner navigated life with grace, kindness, and generosity.

A heartfelt thank you is extended to the teachers, educational assistants and student support staff who provided Tanner with guidance and compassion, helping him become the man he was.

Tanner was predeceased by his grandparents Lyal and Vi Weed, and Albert and Juliette Chevrier, special aunts and uncle, Wendy Weed, Donna Davies, Sherry Mann and Gilles Therrien.

Tanner is survived by parents Lorne and Joanne Weed, brother Alex Weed (Jessica), sister Jillian Weed, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and treasured friends.

A Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 2:00pm, located at the Balgonie Multi-Plex Hall, Balgonie, Sk.

A private family interment will take place immediately following the service.

The family invites all to join them back at the hall to share a meal, memories and laughs.

Important Notice - For those wishing to attend the service virtually, due to technical difficulties with Facebook, the livestream is no longer available. A recording of the service will be posted on the Alternatives Funeral & Cremation Services Facebook page at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Autism Resource Center in Regina, SK.

There are many things I could say and many ways I could describe Tanner, both good and bad, but the man I knew—the man I saw, the man who changed everyone's lives around him—he had the biggest heart of anyone else I've ever known. We had our differences, we had our disagreements, but he always listened. He always challenged us—always wanting to be the smartest guy in the room, but he always remembered to humble himself afterwards. He changed my life for the better. These past several years of friendship could fill a lifetime's worth with how many happy memories, offensive jokes, dad humour, and fun times we shared together. There were a lot of lows and a lot of tears throughout the years, but he was always a good shoulder to cry on. He inspired me. He taught me so many things. He was a true friend, right to the end. I will always remember him for that.

We last saw Tanner a few years ago during a visit to Balgonie. He was warm and welcoming just like the rest of his family. Today we share with the family both the grief of his loss and the celebration of his life. May all who knew Tanner find comfort in reflection of memories of him and acceptance of his peace at this time.

I met Tanner and shared with him for a short time, way shorter than what I would have liked. But in that time we became good friends, he welcomed me even tho I was the new guy in town, the new odd dude in the friend group, we connected and shared crazy ideas, controversial at times or marely chaotic, but that's who he was and he saw I had some of it too and he made damn sure to get it out of me at every chance. It is those memories I keep, it is those experiences that I treasure. I love you man, and can't give enough thanks for the times together.

Absolutely lost for words. Tanner, although we may have drifted over the last few years - as busy as life gets. You were always a kind, honest and joyful person to share a moment with. One of the memories that stand out to me is writing one of my very first songs alongside you - That will forever stand out in my heart. Gonna miss you, man.

There are no words for such a profound loss. Tanner was a bright, unique soul, and the world is a little less vibrant without his perspective. My heart is weeping for you all 💔

Tanner lived life at a higher volume than most. Whether he was diving deep into the archives of history, crafting a clever new story, or headbanging to a favorite riff, he did it with 100% of his heart. He had the sharpest wit in the room and a kindness that ran even deeper."History is a gallery of pictures in which there are few originals and many copies." — Alexis de TocquevilleTanner was one of the originals. He didn't just study the past; he understood the human soul within it. He leaves behind a legacy of creativity, laughter, and a truly epic soundtrack."Leave the light on, I’ll be there soon / For the stars and for the moon / I’ll see you on the other side." — Ozzy OsbourneYour smile, wit, and candor will be missed, but your soundtrack will forever be in our hearts.Rest in peace, Tanner.Mr. H
